After our monthly business meeting we're going to continue our sewing and macreme. We're also going to delve into the world of YEAST! Come and learn about this fascinating cooking substance and learn how to make REFRIGERATOR BREAD!
Yes Mom's and Dad's. You don't need to bake this right away, you don't need to watch it for 2 hours..... this is miracle bread.
Kids will all take home 1/2 loaf worth of dough formed into a loaf, placed on a cookie sheet, oiled and covered in saran wrap. When you get home, simply refrigerate for as long as 24 hours. It'll be just fine for breakfast OR dinner Saturday!
45 minutes before you want warm crusty french bread.
1. Take bread out of frig and carefully remove wrap
2. Preheat oven to 400F
3. Place in relativly warm place (not the oven yet) and let bread come to room temperature for 20 minutes
4. slash top with sharp knife in 4 to 5 places
5. Bake for 20 minutes.
6. OPTIONAL: remove from oven and brush with beaten egg white & 1T cold water - return for 5 more minutes. This makes a gorgeous brown crust.....
