An Amazing Leader........

and... MANY MANY thanks to BARB for enabling us to do this on our own.  What other small group has their own LOGO, and prints it THEMSELVES?  You're 1 in a million!  We're so glad you're on this trip with us!  Just look at a mere FEW the countless WONDERFUL projects you have helped us to do over the last 6 years!

Tye Dying fabric for..... EVERYTHING!

Sewing ANYTHING!
Making BOOKS - seriously - we MADE BOOKS!
See - and they even stand up perty!
Let's not forget the big banner - - - and the other signs that appeared from SOMEWHERE that day!
...... and - always on hand if it has anythinig to do with COFFEE - even giving it away before 7am one morning!
......and helping to create our wonderful meal planner.  I ask you all, what other club has carbon press forms????
SOMEONE is having fun?  Looks messy. WHAT WAS THIS?
And - another wonderful fair plot with that great banner.
Oh - remember the storms at Lk. St Catherine (2008 I think) when everyone bailed out (literally) and went home?  Here are the t-shirts we just COULDN'T GET DONE between the storms???  It was a good thing we had Barb's big tent so they could at least not be DRENCHED!  Then everyone came back the next Friday to FINALLY eat the pancakes and finish off the shirts!

Silk Screening our LOGO

Today we met in the cafeteria and had a BIG SILK SCREENING DAY.  Almost everyone was there - so I hope to see LOTS of THRILLS & SKILLS wear come 4H Week - (BTW: that's the week of October 7th)!!!

Be sure to look at the UPCOMING dates to the right.  Keep in touch with your individual leaders - and keep more BLOG posts coming everyone!

Everyone got in the act - from the youngest to the olders (hmmm - whocould THAT be?)
Green even looks good on chocolate brown!
and... the logo looks good EN MASSE - nice job Emily.
Here she is at work - that came out SO COOL!
(note Barb's painty hand and squeegie in the picture!!!)
Maizie is learning QUICK!  Her sweatshirt with a DOUBLE LOGO is fantastic!  We can hardly wait to see it all around the town.
Antoinette got in the act too.   Nice job EVERYONE!

Seniors make PARMESAN CHICKEN

This was delicious served with alfredo egg noodles and green salad.  The recipe is at the bottom - after all the pictures!

Then we went downstairs to work on MARTHA WASHINGTON quilt squares.  THe plan is to make 12 of them into pillows and give 8 of them to vets on VETERANS DAY.  PATRIOTIC RIGHT?  Then the girls will also each have one to enter the fair.  This was challenging - we learned how to MASS PRODUCE triangles!  Here Donna and Kathleen are marking out the grid.
And then Kathleen is sewing up and down 1/4" each side of the diagonal lines.....
and here Eliza is cutting on ALL the solid lines.
Once ironed out - VOILA - lotsa triangles - some red, some blue, some little, some big!  Over 200 all together to have enough to make 12 pillows.  Ya know - that would be enough to make a whole quilt. Wonder if the girls wanna do a quilting bee!!!   Um - probably NOT!
After about an hour and a half of sewing - we came up to have cake and celebrate Ingrid and Donna's mutual birthday - a week early - but what better way than to share something yummy with friends! We'll finish the MWPillows another time.  It's nice to spread out work, and community service with food and cake!

The Beginning of a Brand New 4H Year

At our whole group meeting we discussed our theme this year PATRIOTISM, we talked about field trips our whole group will take and we got our schedule for the 4H year.   We also had nominations for President, Vice President, SR., JR., and Elem. Secretaries, treasurer, and Sr, Jr., and Elem bloggers.  We are excited to add 2 new members to our group: Maisie and Maggie.  Welcome old and new members alike to our new 4H year!

Here we are at our 1st Whole Group meeting of the year.                                    Hard to get EVERYONE in the picture.  Our group sure is big!

Then, we split into 3 groups: The Seniors, The Juniors and The Elementary Group.

In the elementary group, we did our first project - Chair Cushions!  We made them out of fleece.  We made them red, white and blue because our theme this year is Patriotism.
